Dr. Suresh Chander, Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences, LLRUVAS, Hisar, assumed the charge of this office on July 1, 2012. Born on 7th November 1953, he did his graduation and Post-graduation in Veterinary Sciences from Haryana Agricultural University Hisar is the years 1974 and 1976 respectively. His field of specialization in Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics. He obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 1983 introducing “ Reproductive Immunology” as the newer area of research in the department of Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics. He subsequently formulated and introduced a course on reproductive immunology at P.G. level in HAU Hisar. He has more than three decades of experience of teaching, research and extension and has guided eleven M.V.Sc and one Ph.D students. He is the senior most professor of LLRUVAS and has served as Head of the Department of Animal Reproduction of Gynaecology and Obstetrics from October 1986 to October 1999 and Director Clinics from Aug. 2004 to July 2010 in the parent University i.e. CCS Haryana Agricultural University. He also served as first Dean Post-graduate Studies of the newly established University since March 22, 2011 before joining the present post.
Dr.Suresh Chander had been Vice-President of Indian Society for the study of Animal Reproduction (ISSAR) from Jan. 2001 to Dec. 2003 and is presently President of the Haryana State Chapter of ISSAR. He has been member of Academic Council of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University and has been on the selection /assessment committees of several State Agricultural Universities and ICAR Institutes. “Teaching” is his first love and he believes in continual improvement of scientific knowledge and skills. During his academic career, he has been actively involved in promoting continuing Veterinary Education Programmes and had organized several trainings for the field functionaries of State A.H.State Deptt. He himself has attended many training courses/workshops/seminars in India and abroad. He has coordinated Veterinary Internship Training programme for nearly ten years and is still continuing his association with U.G. and P.G. teaching besides his administrative responsibilities.
